Liverpool will complete the signing of Ibrahima Konate in the next 48 hours. The Reds have triggered the £36m release clause in his contract at RB Leipzig.Konate has agreed personal terms and now only minor formalities are needed to be completed to finalise the deal.The French centre-back will be their first major signing of the summer.Kop boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his defence after suffering a catastrophic injury crisis at centre-back this season.Liverpool have pursued Konate, 22, as their priority in the position.They had looked at a number of centre backs across Europe.But they believe his youth and ability, as well as potential to improve, make him an ideal signing.The deal means they won’t trigger the £18m clause to make.
