Liverpool have confirmed that Manchester United's trip to Anfield on Sunday afternoon is set to go ahead despite fears following heavy snow in the north west area.

There were worries that the game might be postponed due to the weather overnight. An amber warning was put in place by the Met Office as a result, effective from 6pm on Saturday evening and through to midday on Sunday.

In a statement at 9:31am on X, formerly known as Twitter, Liverpool stated that "a safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions" ahead of the game against United.

They added that, at this stage, the game was set to be played as planned but a further meeting would take place at 12pm to confirm whether or not the most-watched fixture in club football would go ahead.
