Manchester United's interest in talented young left-back Patrick Dorgu has been confirmed by Lecce president Sticchi Damiani.
There is bad news for Ruben Amorim, though, as the Italian club have no plans to let the player go at the moment. Dorgu has emerged as a serious target for United this window as they seek to add mid-season reinforcements.
He is seen widely across Europe as one of the best and most versatile talents around. The Manchester Evening News understands that initial talks between Lecce and United have taken place but there is nothing close just yet.
Dorgu is wanted by a host of sides across the continent. Damiani has played down the chances of a January transfer, regardless. "We met with Man United and we told them that our plan is to keep our key players, including Patrick Dorgu," he told Sky Sports [via Fabrizio Romano]. "We’re delighted to have Man United here to make a proposal but our target to stay in Serie A is crucial." Lecce are unsurprisingly not keen to let their jewel leave easily.
