Lionsgate TV Group’s Kevin Beggs Named Chairman of the International Academy of TV Arts & Sciences

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Lionsgate TV Group chair/chief creative officer Kevin Beggs has been tapped to serve as the new chairman of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the org announced Thursday.

Beggs takes over for Fred Cohen, who remains at the International Academy as foundation chairman and executive committee member.

Beggs had previously been treasurer of the International Academy; that position will now be held by former MGM Worldwide Networks, AMC Global and Sundance Channel Global exec Bruce Tuchman, who had most recently been secretary.

International Academy president/CEO Bruce L. Paisner, who also is senior advisor for Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, made the appointments. “Kevin is a highly regarded industry leader who has been deeply involved in the activities of the International Academy since he joined the Executive Committee in 2009 and we are delighted he is now taking on the Chairmanship.” Paisner said in a statement. “I look forward to working with him on the organization’s future goals and development.” Referring to Cohen, he added, “Fred and I have worked together at the International Academy for many years, and he has brought great imagination and thought to that role.
