One of the grandest is Jaipur’s Raj Mandir, owned by Bhuramal Rajmal Surana jewelers. Built in 1976, the pink palace takes its design cues from the Streamline Moderne era of the 1930s.
Said to be the largest single screen theater in Asia, Raj Mandir accommodates more than 1,000 moviegoers per show for Bollywood epics that sometimes play for over a year at a time.
Complete with four zones of seating levels named after precious jewels, ornate chandeliers, elaborate lighting and a light floral scent that wafts through the auditorium from the air vents under each seat, it’s a spectacular experience for audiences.
