The popular market has become a huge part of the district centre by attracting thousands of visitors and hundreds more traders since launching in 2013.

As a temporary operation, the market has to reapply for permission from Manchester council to use the car park on Stockport Road near the railway station every few years.

The application by the volunteers which run the market as a community interest company (CIC) was backed by 280 individual emails of support.
