Leeds United have confirmed the death of club legend Trevor Cherry, who has passed away suddenly at the age of 72. The former defender began his career at Huddersfield before spending a decade at Yorkshire rivals Leeds between 1972 and 1982.

Hunter lost his life after contracting coronavirus and played alongside Cherry at Elland Road during the 70s. Leeds released a statement regarding Cherry’s death and said they were “shocked and deeply saddened by the news”.
