A Lebanon man who was "intercepted" in the English Channel last June was found dead in Manchester Ship Canal just over a year later.

Haydar Alzokra, 28, was tragically found dead on July 25, 2022, after a member of the public spotted a body in the water and called the emergency services.

Mr Alzokra, who had previously lived in Salford, was last registered as living in Greenbank Drive, Liverpool, although he may have returned to Salford more recently before his tragic death.

An inquest into his death was opened at Manchester South Coroner's Court on Wednesday morning, August 10, where assistant coroner Andrew Bridgman heard evidence about Mr Alzokra's last known movements before his tragic death.
