By Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer MGM has enacted a round of companywide layoffs, Variety has learned exclusively. The studio’s marketing and distribution arm United Artists Releasing has also furloughed one third of its staff.
Seven percent of MGM’s workforce of 750 was eliminated on Friday, around 50 jobs, insiders said. The cuts come across the entire operation, in departments including scripted and unscripted television and feature film.
UAR, the joint distribution venture between MGM and Annapurna Pictures, has deferred employment for one-third of its staff of 80.
