Larry the Cat, the beloved official mouse catcher of Downing Street, might find his territory challenged by Sir Keir Starmer's family cat JoJo when he moves into Number 10, according to an expert.
It comes as Labour goes into government for the first time in 14 years, meaning it will be Larry's first encounter with this political party.
The loveable Larry, aged 17 and a seasoned political companion, has outlasted numerous UK leaders, making the corridors of power his home.Throughout his tenure, he's witnessed the comings and goings of prime ministers and their pets, including Rishi Sunak's Labrador, Nova.
But now, an expert warns that Larry could face some stiff competition from JoJo. Nicky Trevorrow from Cats Protection explained to the Daily Mail: "It's natural for cats to feel threatened when a new cat comes along, as they'll be protective of their territory and all the perks that come with it like food, shelter and warmth." Nicky advises a cautious approach to integration: "That's why it's important to take it really slowly, keep them in separate areas and get them used to each other's scent before they actually see each other.
