Lady Antebellum sues blues singer Anita White over Lady A name she's used for 20 years

The country band formerly known as Lady Antebellum is suing a blues singer over the use of the name Lady A - despite her claiming to have used it for 20 years.

The band said they were taking action against Anita White after talks apparently broke down when her team allegedly demanded a $10million (£7.8m) payment.

Band members Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, announced last month they were changing their name to Lady A following the Black Lives Matter movement which was sparked by the death of George Floyd.

Antebellum means 'before war' and is widely associated with the United States during the time when slavery was still legal. The trio said they had "reluctantly" filed a trademark lawsuit against the singer but stressed that
