Spanish football first division La Liga has been suspended for two weeks due to the widespread coronavirus fears. The second tier has also been brought to a temporary halt.
The news comes just minutes after it was confirmed the Real Madrid squad have been quarantined due to a player in their basketball team being confirmed to have the virus.
A Real Madrid statement read: "A player from our basketball first team has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. "The recommendation has been made to quarantine both the basketball and football first teams, given the two squads share facilities in Ciudad Real Madrid." Real Madrid have followed in the footsteps of Juventus who have also put their first team stars into quarantine.
