A notorious serial shoplifter stole almost £700 worth of underwear from New Look. Glen Sylvester has an "appalling" criminal record of nearly 100 offences, and once suffered the humiliation of being caught and detained by a pensioner after a bungled burglary.

He stole underwear valued at £683 after grabbing as much as he could and was working as a team with an accomplice to target high-value hauls from shops to feed his drug habit, a court heard.

Sylvester, 41, of Clavering Street, Grimsby, admitted fraud on September 19 and two theft offences on September 22 and October 2.

He also admitted breaching an 18-week suspended prison sentence imposed on August 10 for six shop theft offences, Grimsby Live reports.
