"It’s not rain, it’s next year’s whisky," was one soggy person's take on the downpours at the annual garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
Heavy rain lashed down in the gardens on Tuesday, 4 July, as 8,000 guests gathered to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla as well as Anne, the Princess Royal.
It was the second day of the couple’s first post-Coronation visit to Scotland.The garden party, a traditional part of Holyrood Week, this year celebrates the coronation of Charles and Camilla and follows two parties held at Buckingham Palace earlier this year.
Camilla told one attendee she was “remarkably dry” as party-goers huddled under umbrellas to keep out of the rain. Among those speaking to the King was Sandy McPherson, who attended with his wife Catherine and granddaughter Sarah.
