Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier praised the 'fantastic' Phil Foden but admitted his side gave the Manchester City star too much space during Saturday's 1-0 defeat.
Foden was the standout player at the Etihad as City recorded a second win of the season with a dominant performance. The 23-year-old set up Julian Alvarez for the decisive goal, finding the Argentinian in space to fire home a deadly finish from just inside the box.
It was one of seven big chances created by the City academy product, who enjoyed life in a more central role with both Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva absent.
He could have had more assists, had Erling Haaland managed to take one of the several chances handed to him. A consistent threat, Foden often found space on the half-turn between Newcastle's defence and midfield, turning and driving forward with the ball before picking the right pass.
