Manchester City are said to be looking to table a second bid for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes after seeing an initial £47m rejected.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil confirmed that his club had turned down the offer from City, who are looking for midfield reinforcements amid Kevin De Bruyne’s absence.
Nunes did not play for Wolves in the win over Everton due to suspension. O’Neil believes Nunes is not distracted by interest from City, although that theory could be tested further with Sky Sports reporting that City are due to go back in with a revised bid.
Wolves are reportedly holding out for £60m having signed him for £42m last year. Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of Nunes, who he described as “one of the best players in the world” after his display for Sporting Lisbon against City in February 2022.
