Manchester City failed with a £60million deadline-day bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, according to reports. City had a very busy day on Friday as they finalised plans for the 2023/2024 campaign.
The Blues signed Matheus Nunes in a £53m deal from Wolves and let several young players head out on loan. But the major shock of the day came with Cole Palmer joining Chelsea, who made a late offer of £42.5m that couldn't be refused.
City were not expecting to lose the 21-year-old permanently, and according to the Mirror, were working late into the evening to try and replace him with Eze.
Pep Guardiola's side were interested in the Palace star around the same time they went for Nunes, but seemed to have cooled interest upon agreeing a deal for the Portuguese midfielder.
