Kenny Dalglish says Andy Robertson is an icon for his Scotland team-mates. And he believes his Liverpool team-mate Ben Doak can follow his lead.
Robertson’s story, coming from humble beginnings at Queen’s Park is well documented, but Dalglish says it’s inspirational to the group as he prepares to captain his nation against Spain.
Dalglish said: “There is nobody thinking they are better than they are and Andy is a good example of that. He is a great icon for players to look at and see what you can achieve.
He will come to Hampden and say to guys, ‘I used to train and play over there at Lesser Hampden’. The rest look on and think: I want a bit of that as well.
