Kate Garraway reveals she’s keeping a diary for unconscious husband Derek to help his ‘overstretched’ doctors

KATE Garraway has revealed she is keeping a diary for her unconscious husband Derek to help his "overstretched" doctors. The 53-year-old said she wants to help changing staff "get to know" her husband who has spent four months in intensive care in a coma.

Although he has started to open his eyes, Derek remains in and out of consciousness. Taking inspiration from writer Michael Rosen - a coronavirus survivor who appeared on Good Morning Britain today - Kate has started documenting Derek's journey.

Michael explained: "The nurses who looked after me wrote little diary entries and letters to me when they came off duty. "There are pages of accounts of what they saw me in the state I was in.
