The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain host opened up on Instagram, telling fans: "Feel so emotional but know Derek will be so proud and pleased." Putting Derek's recent health struggles to one side, Kate made sure to mark her son's big day with a socially-distanced gathering with their closet friends and family.
She later took to social media to reflect on the party by sharing a video of her son admiring a huge tent in their garden. As Billy walked into the tent, Kate exclaimed: "What do you think?" The youngster replied: "It's really good!" The teepee featured sleeping camper beds and jungle decorations.
