TV presenter Kate Garraway has reportedly been given “as much time off as she needs” by ITV bosses following the tragic death of her husband Derek Draper. The Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, announced earlier today that Derek had died in an emotional statement on Instagram.

A source told The Sun last month that Kate was by his side 24 hours a day after she cancelled all work commitments. They said: "Kate is by his side 24 hours a day and is willing him on to win this latest battle for his life.

Derek has fought so many times, and always, against all odds, come out the other side. Kate has been utterly incredible — by his side while being an amazing mum to Darcey and Billy, and trying to manage their expectations of a family Christmas.” Since Kate announced the tragic news, the publication reported that ITV bosses said she could have “as much time off as she needs” before returning to work.

OK! Has contacted ITV representatives for comment. Kate announced her husband's passing on Friday where she said he died after being “critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December”.
