Kate Ferdinand has given fans a glimpse into the moment she first met her now-husband, Rio Ferdinand.The couple first crossed paths eight years ago in Dubai in 2016, through mutual friends.

At the time, Kate was nursing a broken heart after splitting from her TOWIE co-star Dan Edgar. On New Year's Eve of the same year, Rio shared a photo on Instagram with Lee Westwood and Anthony Joshua, also in Dubai.

Not long after, Kate posted a picture of herself in Dubai, hinting at another trip to the UAE. A few months later, the pair returned to Dubai for a romantic getaway, keeping their budding romance under wraps.

It wasn't until April 2017 that Kate publicly acknowledged their relationship, announcing her departure from TOWIE to focus on "priority right now is Rio and the family." Now, the 33 year old has shared a throwback snap from the night they were introduced.The couple have returned to Dubai eight years later to ring in the New Year, showing that the country still holds a special place in their hearts, reports the Mirror.
