Pete Davidson is revealing why he asked to be fired from Saturday Night Live. The 31-year-old comedian recalled his request during the docuseries SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night. Pete looked back to having a meeting with creator Lorne Michaels after his first season on the weekend late night sketch show. Everybody’s so talented and they don’t want to be my friend,’” Pete shared in the doc, via People. He laughed, explaining it was “because I was a child.

I was like, ‘Nobody wants to be my friend.’ And he said, ‘You don’t figure it out ’til your third or fourth year… It’s just gonna suck for three or four years.’ And he was right.” If you recall, Pete joined the show in 2014 and exited in 2022.

Back in November, he made a surprise return during a sketch with his friend John Mulaney. The next month, Pete supported John at the opening night of his Broadway play All In: Comedy About Love By Simon Rich.
