But today she wants to talk —hers in particular—and why her experiences postpartum have started a new chapter in her life: joining the fight to pass the United States’ first-ever national paid family leave policy. “Postpartum, my body, my physical health, and my mental health were extremely vulnerable,” she tells Glamour.“[Childbirth] is such a universal experience,” she continues. “This is how we all come into the world.
But the fact that there's not policy in place that protects women or birthing people going through this period is something that is really devastating in this country.
