Liverpool were favourites to land the German international, but couldn't find the funds to trigger his release clause. They are hoping Wolves forward Traore will prove to be a cheaper option.
Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux this season, but the result was anything but a foregone conclusion for a team that has brushed opposition aside this campaign.
Klopp's side were made to work very hard for their three points, with Traore putting in a man of the match performance and making Robertson's life hell.
