John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

mirror.co.ukA judge has ruled Johnny Depp's libel trial can go ahead next week as planned. The decision was made today at the High Court after it was previously ruled the star breached a court order by failing to disclose a number of text messages which allegedly showed him trying to obtain drugs.
The Hollywood actor, 57, is suing News Group Newspapers - the publishers of The Sun - over a story which appeared in the publication in 2018 branding him a "wife beater".
It related to allegations from Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard, 34, who claims the actor was violent towards her - which he denies.
During the preliminary hearing, lawyers for NGN attempted to have the case thrown out by claiming Depp withheld texts which allegedly showed he had tried to buy
