John Langley, who was the creator of US reality show Cops, has died aged 78. The producer's representatives confirmed the news to Variety that had died on Saturday in Mexico following an apparent heart attack.
He was best known for creating the crime-fighting reality show, which premiered on Fox in 1989, but was cancelled in response to the national protests against the murder of George Floyd.
His first step into the world of TV had been through reality show American Vice: The Doping of a Nation, which he produced, and aired live drug arrests for the first time on telly.
John previously recalled that the concept of his biggest hit, Cops, had been initially difficult to sell to television network executives, who had been "very negative"
