The killer brother of soccer star Joey Barton will make his first bid for freedom – days before the 15th anniversary of the race murder.
Michael Barton, 31, has a parole hearing in July after reportedly turning his life around in prison. He is applying to move to an open jail, the first step on the road to release.
Barton was 17 when he and his cousin Paul Taylor, 20, killed 18-year-old Anthony Walker. They ambushed him in a park and Taylor drove an ice axe through his skull.
