Barcelona following the election of Joan Laporta as president for the second time.Laporta previously reigned at the Nou Camp between 2003 and 2010 and appointed Pep Guardiola as manager during his time.The 58-year-old won more than 54 per cent of the vote and succeeds Josep Maria Bartomeu who resigned in October.Laporta had claimed he would get on the phone to Lionel Messi’s father were he to win the election in order to try and get the star to stay.Messi was heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp last summer and his contract ends at the conclusion of the season.Laporta had said: "I am sure that if someone else wins the election [other than me], Messi won't stay at the club.
