Jet2 flight mystery U-turn just 30 minutes after take-off as plane returns to UK

A Jet2 flight en route to Ibiza was forced into a dramatic U-turn just half an hour into its journey.Holidaymakers were forced to return to Manchester Airport on Wednesday night as the plane was heading over the English Channel.FlightRadar showed the Jet2 aircraft took off at around 5.45pm and was due to land at 9pm on the Balearic party destination island, but the flight diverted half an hour into the journey - the Mirror reports.As the pilot made the return to Manchester the flight tracker site showed the plane circling over the Peak District before touching down.Jet2 has remained tight-lipped over the reason for the U-turn with an emergency landing ruled out by the budget airline.It's believed it was down to a minor issue with no risk posed to any of the crew or passengers.

In a tweet the airline said it was due to "unforeseen operational reasons".Passengers were quickly transferred onto another aircraft which then took off for Ibiza in order to save time.Last week the firm saw its share price sink by more than a tenth after announcing its chairman would be stepping down after more than four decades.Jet2 declined to provide an official comment when approached on the flight turning back.
