Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Jermain Defoe admits the pressure to win trophies is something he wishes he had earlier in his career, as he issued advice to Harry Kane.

The veteran helped Steven Gerrard 's side to win a first league title in a decade, just his second major honour after a League Cup with Tottenham in 2008.

And he's warned current Spurs star Kane he may have to leave to win silverware, as he admits he regrets not having that drive earlier in his career.

Defoe said on TalkSPORT : "If you’d have asked me this question a few years ago, I’d have said he should have stayed there, what he’s done at the football club – he’s a legend.
