Perthshire has two teams into the second round of the Scottish Cup.That is after both Jeanfield Swifts and Luncarty netted impressive first round triumphs against Highland League opposition on Saturday.Swifts travelled north - way north - to record a 3-1 victory against Wick Academy. An own goal got the ball rolling for the Perth side before Fraser Smith and then Chris McLeish extended the advantage.Wick Academy did manage to get on the scoresheet but the bus heading back for the Fair City was sure to be a celebratory one.“I thought we were excellent, started on the front foot and were unlucky not to be a couple of goals further in front,” Swifts boss Robbie Holden said.“We hit the bar twice and their goalkeeper made a couple of great saves but we eventually got the third and deserved to progress.“It’s a long trip home, probably five hours on the bus, but I think we will enjoy it.“There will be a couple of the newer players doing their initiation songs and some supporters who look like they have enjoyed the pre-match hospitality so it should be a lively bus.”Luncarty, meanwhile, also booked their ticket for the second round thanks to a wonderful 5-2 win away at Keith. On the scoresheet for the Bleachers were Kyle Woolley, Kyle Green (2), Rhys Davies and Craig Mitchell.Manager Jason McCrindle said: “It was a fantastic performance from the players.

They made a lot of people proud.“It’s another piece of history created and we want to continue as far as we can in the cup.“I’m proud to be leading this team.

It’s a special group of players.“I’ve been fortunate to manage some good teams but to be leading a team into the second round of the country’s national cup competition is definitely one of the best moments.”
