A couple found out they'd scooped £1million on the National Lottery while on holiday in Scotland. Childhood sweethearts Craig and Karen Mitchell feared they could be the victims of a 'scam' when they got the call.But the 53-year-olds ended up ‘crying’ and ‘dancing’ with joy when they learned they really had won £1,000,000 on the National Lottery.
The caring couple, of Wakefield, Yorkshire, have been together for 38 years, having shared their first kiss on Karen's 15th birthday.
And they no plans to quit their jobs despite their windfall.Karen, who is about to start a new job as a Macmillan Sister in Palliative and End-of-Life Care with Mid-Yorkshire Trust, has been a specialist cancer nurse for 28 years.
The Mirror reports Craig said: “Karen’s career means so much to her and while her work is incredibly rewarding, it’s also very traumatic and does take its toll.“Knowing that we have that buffer in our finances to enable us to head off for a weekend here and there to escape ‘reality’ will make such a difference for us, and ensure Karen can continue to be the very best version of her nursing self.”After their win Karen revealed how she had ‘manifested’ the win saying: “I knew we were going to win it!
