Aberdeen have been warned that target Jay Idzes won’t be sold on the cheap by Go Ahead Eagles boss Paul Bosvelt - as he’s too vital to their Eredivisie survival bid. Record Sport revealed last week that Aberdeen were ready to make a six figure bid to land the big centre half in the January window.
Go Ahead, who are sitting 10th in the league, want to protect their Dutch top-flight status and would rather risk losing him for a knock-down price on freedom of contract in the summer than sell him for a bargain fee just now.
Go Ahead sporting director Bosvelt has confirmed there is interest in Idzes and that every player has their price. Bosvelt, speaking to Destentor.nl, said: “Amounts offered are not yet such that Jay Idzes can leave Go Ahead Eagles.
Through Jay’s agent some clubs have shown an interest in him but there are no cases where we are at the stage where we are thinking about it seriously. "Maintaining our place in the Eredivisie is the most important thing for us and Jay is important in that.
