Jamie Vardy 's journey from non-league to Premier League champion and England international is set to get even better when the Leicester striker scores his next league goal.
That will make him just the 29th player to have scored 100 times in the Premier League and, when that day comes, Allen Bethel, Vardy's former chairman at Stocksbridge, will be among those most delighted for the 33-year-old.
Having been released by Sheffield Wednesday, Vardy got his start at Stocksbridge and Bethel still follows his former player's career closely.
Speaking to the Mirror, Bethel, 78, said: “I am happy when he scores and my wife Janet shouts even louder than me. “I watch everything I can and read as much I can.
