Jamie Foxx is staying in business with Fox. The Collateral and Ray star, who recently toplined Netflix’s Back In Action alongside Cameron Diaz, has closed a first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios.
He will develop and produce scripted and unscripted programming for the network’s studio arm. Foxx has been in business with the network for the last few years, co-hosting gameshow Beat Shazam with his daughter Corinne and exec producing Alert: Missing Persons Unit, which is heading into its third season.
He also starred in Fox’s In Living Color between 1991 and 1994. Under the deal, which runs through his production banner Foxxhole Productions, Foxx will serve as executive producer and originator of scripted series across comedy, drama and animation genres, for which Fox Entertainment Studios will have a first-look.
The deal also gives the studio, which has its own unscripted arm Fox Alternative Entertainment, exclusive rights to Foxx’s projects in the unscripted sector. “We are ready and excited to kick-start this very promising new creative partnership with Jamie as we build on Fox’s longtime association with him — initiated by our CEO Rob Wade and network president Michael Thorn,” said Fernando Szew, President and Head of Fox Entertainment Studios. “Jamie is a renowned multifaceted talent, so as a studio, we want to support his tremendous creativity with access to the full scope of our genres, formats and brands.
