Jamie Carragher has suggested Manchester United target Declan Rice has the qualities needed to play at centre-back. The West Ham star has played a key part in the Hammers’ midfield this season and his performances have seen him linked with a big-money move this summer.
Rice, along with the likes of Leicester’s James Maddison and Jack Grealish, have been on United’s radar but the former has endured a quieter season than his fellow international team-mates.
Liverpool legend Carragher reckons Rice does struggle with receiving the ball in the middle of the park though and perhaps he would be better suited in defence. "I think he's better on the ball than he's actually given credit for, Declan Rice.
