'It sounded like an explosion': Mum's horror after 'stolen' car ploughed through door as children slept upstairs

A mum has told of her fear after a 'stolen' car ploughed through the front door of her home in Salford as her four children slept upstairs.

The resident, who does not wish to be named, was upstairs in her house on Station Road in Eccles at around 12.30am this morning (Saturday) when she heard a 'bang that sounded like an explosion' She said she initially thought that someone had broken into her house while she, her partner and her four young children were sleeping.

She told the Manchester Evening News she was terrified after her partner went downstairs to find their front door wide open with a car smashed through it.

The person - or people - in the car had fled the scene.
