A boy with a rare disease that made him swell to twice his size has made an astonishing recovery thanks to pioneering treatment.
Rachael Ravenhill, 28, who lives in Doncaster, brought her son for medical treatment in January 2018 after noticing his face and limbs had become severely swollen.
After undergoing a biopsy, 7-year-old Dylan was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) - a rare and incurable disease that causes the body's immune system to attack the kidneys, sometimes leading to organ failure.
Just 66 children have been treated for this condition in the UK over the last 15 years, figures show. Dylan also developed an aggressive Nephrotic Syndrome, which causes swelling due to fluid in the body as the kidneys leak
