The state visit "is the ultimate when it comes to the use of soft power", a royal expert said. King Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort arrived in Germany on Wednesday as part of their three day state visit with a priority to strengthen and improve relations with Britain’s European neighbours and to stand together with Ukraine.Their trip is expected to make a big impact as they build relationships for the benefit of both countries.
Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, speaking exclusively to OK! said that "soft power really does work" and the state visit is the "ultimate" when it comes to this.
He went on to say "the white tie and tiara state banquet you do get the red carpet treatment, it’s friends and allies traditionally. “It’s striking the right balance to please the hosts to put the right spotlight because what it also does is goodwill when it comes to business or when it's the arts - this sort of thing it is very important because it does mean something the cooperation and also the months of planning all this, what it’s aimed at is a benefit for both".
Mr Fitzwilliams adds that “no one has the profile that our monarchy has. "For better or sometimes for worse when the news is bad but when it comes to soft power it is very impressive".
