Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has placed Wes Morgan above Steven Gerrard on his all-time Premier League captains list - because the Leicester skipper guided his club to the title.

Morgan proved crucial in the Foxes’ astonishing 2015/16 Premier League triumph, which saw them produce arguably the greatest sporting upset of all time by defying odds of 5000/1 to become champions.

Liverpool hero Gerrard never got his hands on the title, with his infamous slip against Chelsea costing Brendan Rodgers’ side as they closed in on the 2013/14 crown.

And when picking his top ten Prem captains, Wright made the controversial decision to rank Morgan above the former England captain. “Wes Morgan won a Premier League title with a Leicester side no one expected.
