A brave mum in Ukraine made the agonising decision to send her 11-year-old son 750 miles through the war-torn country on his own.
Júlia Pisecka Volodymyrivna, who was forced to stay behind to take care of her poorly mother, gave Hasan a note, his passport and wrote a number on the back of his hand before sending him on his way.
When the little boy got to the border with Slovakia, volunteers read the letter and rang the number - which belonged to relatives in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
Officials arranged for them to pick him up and Hasan is now safe. Júlia made the unthinkable decision after a power plant near where the family lives in Zaporizhzhia was attacked by the Russians during the current conflict, sparking fears of radiation threats.
