In the comments section of Shola Shoretire's most recent post on social media, there are messages from the likes of Mason Greenwood, Kobbie Mainoo and Alvaro Fernandez.

Fernandez is a rising star at Benfica, Mainoo is regarded as one the finest emerging midfield talents in the world and Greenwood is playing for Marseille, despite a turbulent few years.

Shoretire rubbed shoulders with those players each day at Manchester United and now plays for PAOK after relocating to Greece upon the expiry of his contract in Manchester in June.

Eyebrows would have been raised if someone had said in 2021 - when Shoretire became the youngest-ever player to represent United in Europe - that he would be playing for PAOK just three years later because he was seen as a player who was destined for first-team success.
