A huge free fireworks bonanza is being organised for Manchester city centre to ring in the New Year in style. The New Year's Eve event will have capacity for 20,000 revellers to join the countdown to midnight in Manchester on Tuesday, December 31.
Last year, Manchester Council brought back the free fireworks event for the first time in four years, to a new location at Castlefield Bowl.
Pre-Covid, the New Year countdown had always taken place at Albert Square with the spectacular backdrop of Manchester Town Hall, but ongoing works there means it remains out of action for 2024.
But next week the fireworks event will have another new location - in the historic setting of St Peter's Square for the first time ever in the city centre.
