A huge emergency response was prompted after a car was found 'well alight' in the River Irk in north Manchester. Fire crews, police, and paramedics descended on Hendham Vale in the Harpurhey area after reports of a vehicle fire.
Crews found a car engulfed by flames in the water. Greater Manchester Fire Service confirmed three crews, as well as a technical rescue unit were deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire, shortly before 11pm on Saturday (17 June). It has not been confirmed if any person entered the water, or if any injuries were reported. Greater Manchester Police are said to be leading the investigation, and have been approached for more information.
Footage taken from Hendham Vale shows a large number of emergency vehicles, including multiple fire crews, police and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
