Storm Éowyn is expected to batter the UK with winds of up to 90mph hitting some parts of the UK on Friday, January 24. The Met Office has issued multiple weather warnings of varying severities including two rare 'danger to life' red warnings for wind, which cover Northern Ireland and areas in southern and central Scotland.
Elsewhere, parts of the Scottish highlands have been issued with a yellow warning for snow, while there are two amber wind warnings and warnings for heavy rain which could lead to flooding.
While not covered by the most severe red alert, Greater Manchester is expected to be hit by strong winds, which could cause some problems.
The region is covered by an amber alert which warns that there is risk of power cuts, travel disruption, damage to buildings and homes and a risk of injury due to flying debris.
