In an ideal world, Erik ten Hag will be reunited with Matthijs de Ligt this summer. After rubber-stamping moves for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee already, Manchester United are in the market for further additions and De Ligt is understood to have agreed personal terms over a proposed switch to Old Trafford.
However, there is still some negotiating to be done between Ineos and Bayern Munich. De Ligt needs no introduction to Ten Hag - or Premier League followers for that matter.
The 24-year-old captained Ajax as a teenager under the now-United manager, while De Ligt was often billed as one of the best defenders on the planet during his time with the Amsterdam giants and Juventus. However, that is not enough to deter United from pursuing his signature, while Ten Hag knows better than anybody what the centre-back, who is thought to be valued at around £42million by the Bundesliga heavyweights, is capable of producing.
