Hospital staff have been left furious after facing daily battles to find a space in the site's overcrowded "muddy bog" of a car park.
Workers at North Devon District Hospital face having to arrive up to an hour early to get a spot, or risk being late for their shift.They have been told that if the staff car park at the site in Barnstaple is full, they are not allowed to use the nearby patients' car park and, instead, must park at either Pilton Causeway or Fairview - sites that are 20 minutes' walk away, Devon Live reports.Even if workers are fortunate enough to find a spot for their vehicle in the staff car park, it is not plain sailing.
One told how they received a parking ticket because they weren't in an assigned bay, despite having a permit. Others are enraged by the standard of the site.
Photos show the car park caked in thick mud, with potholes filled with dirty water and vehicles tightly packed in alongside each other without much room to manoeuvre.One staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "For the last few months there has been a massive issue with parking.
