Brits jetting to Europe next year have been warned that they could be hit with a pricey phone bill. Holidaymakers could be unexpectedly stung whilst travelling abroad after Brexit.

The government has issued a warning after launching a huge £93million ad campaign to prepare citizens for leaving the European Union.

Under current EU rules, Brits can use their monthly allowance of data without incurring any extra charges in 28 European countries.

But this benefit could be axed after the UK quits the single market and EU customs union on December 31, 2020. From January 1, mobile companies will be able to hike charges if they want to.
