An ambitious plan to create a new "go to" social venue in the heart of Ayr has been unveiled.Wellington House on the Square will reimagine one of the town's most historic buildings as a bespoke base for weddings, parties and functions.Those behind the six-figure project say their vision is to serve an "untapped market" using the former Gentleman's Club which played host to the US Air Force in World War I.Overlooking Wellington Square, the two-storey property was originally conceived as a house in the early 19th century.Sharon Welsh, a qualified clinical scientist from Prestwick, is driving its rebirth as a home for high-end events.Intimate weddings along with meeting spaces for clients are all high on the list of desired uses.The Ayrshire
